YARNZ SPRING 2014

The prints from Yarnz this season are SO fun! We brought in our favorites in cashmere and silk, in the color palette of the season - navy blue, taupe, light pink, goldenrod, and more.
Assorted scarf styles - $215
Yarnz' handbags are a fantastic quality of leather, simply constructed with the same vivid scarf-prints. You'll love the smooth, even finish and the lightweight material for daily carrying.

NEW STYLES FROM PANTHERELLA

Assorted - Pantherella - $35
Terrific new styles from Pantherella have just hit the shelves. Whether you're a fashionable guy who wants a 'pop' sock, or a classic enthusiast whose elegant socks coordinate perfectly with your sharp suits, we've got the perfect style for you.

HERION - VIVID PRINTS FOR SPRING

We *LOVE* Herion for Spring!!! This incredible Italian collection has the best prints - quirky vintage inspired designs that look fabulous on their own or layered with solids. Try a Herion print button-front blouse under a sleeveless knit, or a trapeze-shape with a solid tank underneath for a tunic effect.

ESEMPLARE AT BUTCH BLUM

Knit shirt jacket with woven trim - $325
One of our favorite new vendors, Esemplare offers a chic take on Italian contemporary mens sportswear.  It's a vintage-inspired product without being too literal - a 70's style shirt jacket is interpreted in washed sweatshirting cotton, or a bermuda short in a vintage print that reverses to a solid.
Reversible surf short - $325

SPECIALTY STORES LOSE GROUND IN SEATTLE

The downtown Seattle area has seen steady growth in the last few years, with major construction on apartment buildings, hotels, businesses and more. The specialty trade however, has seen a marked decline.

Butch was quoted in a Seattle Times' article yesterday - the article covers a panel hosted by the Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) and Gallatin Public Affairs.  Butch joined five other downtown business folks to discuss the state of Seattle's Retail climate.  Butch made the Times by citing landlords' preference for businesses like food and beverage and financial institutions, who will typically pay a lot more per square foot, over unproven, privately owned specialty stores.  The DSA's figures agree with Butch's observations: since 2009 there has been a twelve percent drop in retail stores, as opposed to a twenty percent increase in financial institutions such as payday lenders.

RADIANT ORCHID AT BUTCH BLUM

Speaking of color, we recently participated in a segment on our local Fox syndicate about Pantone's color of 2014 - Radiant Orchid, a vivid shade of heliotrope.  Our outfit is at 2:04, and we chose a LBM 1911 neutral blazer ($795) to offset the Aglini shirt ($245) and Giorgio Armani tie ($150).  Not shown but equally fabulous are our cabochon Amethyst cufflinks from Blake Green at $695, in sterling silver settings.

PRO TIP - TRY TEAL THIS SPRING

In both photos: Teal button-front shirt - Culturata - $195
Cashmere/Linen cardigan - Inis Meain - $695
Stone bedford cotton pant - Hiltl - $255
This season, variations on teal in both dark and light shades, are extremely important - and with good reason. Teal has a similar wearability to traditional French and China blue shirts, but has a certain electric quality that is flattering for any skin tone.

Wear it casually or pair it with your favorite suit in the same ways you'd wear a similar light blue - you'll be amazed how cool you look.
Light tan mohair blend suit - Armani - $1995
Silk tie - Armani - $195
Pochette- Emme Effe - $55

NEW ARRIVALS - FULTON AND ROARK

Fulton and Roark fragrances - $45 each
We are proud to introduce Fulton and Roark solid fragrances - a new concept perfect for a modern man.  Each of their three distinctive fragrances is housed in its own slide-top metal container, perfect for travel (no miniature bottles neccesary!) or just to slip into a bag or briefcase.  Their three signature fragrances are:

Hatteras: This fragrance has a surprise note - lightly spicy - underneath its classic "fresh" green and citrus notes.

Shackleford: This is the most robust of the three fragrances, and has a masculine wood-based character derived from sandalwood and amber.

Tybee: A slightly soapy white musk with notes of rosewood and cedar - masculine but very subtle.

Try one of these new fragrances out and compare them to your favorite eau de cologne - you'll be pleasantly surprised at the sillage and longevity of each individual scent. For added fun, share with a lady friend and see how different body chemistry can make each scent a very personal experience.

CIVIDINI TRUNK SHOW PRESENTATION

Our Cividini Pre-Fall '14 trunk show was an incredible success, thanks to our terrific clients and friends, as well as the stylists at Marco Two Union for their Spring '14 hair presentation and Peter Miller for donating a copy of his new book. Last but not least, thanks so much to TCM models for sending two beautiful ladies to show the collection.

See something you *LOVE*? Don't hesitate to ask us about the item - we are more than happy to contact Cividini and see if it can still be produced. Email us at promotions@Butchblum.com and include a copy of the photo.

SPRING HAIR PRESENTATION

We had an incredible Spring '14 hair presentation yesterday during our Cividini trunk show - Robert from Marco Two Union styled our models to perfection, and we even got to meet the man himself - that's Marco in the second shot. We highly recommend Marco Two Union - conveniently located upstairs from our store - for anyone looking for a stylish transformation (hair and makeup-wise...we can take care of the rest!).

CAMERON'S PICK - JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER

Jean-Paul Gaultier - $345 (also available in black)
This piece is so whimsical - a slightly old-fashioned crochet technique in a completely modern silhouette; slightly cropped, and slightly boxy, perfect to wear over a long black blouse like mine.  This would also be totally fun with white, worn over a skirt as a dressier choice.
