 Once again, the partnership between Fuzzi and Jean-Paul Gaultier has produced memorable results - this stunning cocktail sheath. Jean-Paul Gaultier's vivid red, black and yellow floral print on Fuzzi's signature dry-hand stretch poliamide creates an excellent balance between the dressmaker's and the painter's art.

This piece is so whimsical - a slightly old-fashioned crochet technique in a completely modern silhouette; slightly cropped, and slightly boxy, perfect to wear over a long black blouse like mine.  This would also be totally fun with white, worn over a skirt as a dressier choice.

ITTIERRE'S TROUBLED TIMES

Italian fashion magnate Ittierre S.p.A has been facing financial woes off and on for the past few years, but 2014 could signal the end of the company.  Ittierre S.p.A. has had licenses with a wide variety of designers including Versace, D&G, Balmain, and two of our favorites - Jean-Paul Gaultier and Costume National.   Costume national severed ties with Ittierre last fall (their diffusion label "C'n'C" is still produced by Ittierre). While Jean-Paul Gaultier ended his contract for the Pret-a-porter women's collection in 2012, he also signed agreements in 2012 for a new streetwear label for men and women, to be launched Spring 2014.  With the current bankruptcy situation it is unclear whether they will be able to fulfill the contract.

 A new exhibition of designs by Jean-Paul Gaultier at The Brooklyn Museum opened yesterday. The iconic French fashion star stole the show once again, with three-dimensional talking representations of the designer projected onto the display mannequins.   We *LOVE* that idea - now where can we find a dozen small projectors?

The transitional collection from Jean-Paul Gaultier has arrived and is utterly amazing...beautiful lightweight stretch tulle creations - dresses, leggings, skirts, tops, and more, perfect to wear now or to pair with heavier fall/winter options this coming season. Equally fabulous, though minimal, are the arrivals from parent company Fuzzi, including the bat-wing tunic and ruched maxi-dress, as well as Fuzzi's excellent sheer long-sleeve layering tops.

Chinese pop-star Chris Lee (also known as Li Yuchun) recently performed a world tour, with costumes entirely by Jean-Paul Gaultier.  Gaultier is hardly a newcomer to stagewear, having designed signature costumes for Madonna and Kylie Minogue (among others), as well as the film wardrobes for hit films like "The City of Lost Children" and "The Fifth Element."  We love these looks and this incredible designer, and are proud to carry both his "Maille" and "Soleil" collections exclusively in Seattle. This installation took its colors from Peter Juvonen's fabulous abstract art, with tones of teal, salmon, acid yellow and royal blue. Our ladies are wearing Gaultier Soleil's fabulous printed chiffon tunics, which can be draped on the body multiple different ways and worn with different underpinnings to create different effects. During the day, wear them with a tank and leggings, at night, with a simple full slip.  Our gentlemen are similarly versatile - their "spezzato" (unconstructed) jackets perfect for chinos during the day and wool slacks for evening.
