NEW ARRIVALS - Z ZEGNA LAYERED PUFFER

Layered tech jacket - Z Zegna - $1475

Continuing their string of terrific hits this season, Z Zegna released this wonderful winter jacket, layered with an attached sweater coat.  The outer shell is thoroughly water-resistant, and the perfect weight for heavy activity like skiing or snowboarding. The inner layer is a dense, ultrafine merino wool which breathes beautifully, so this jacket keeps you warm in the coldest weather, but never uncomfortably hot. As a final detail, the knit cuffs on the sleeve have thumbholes for warm hands (that can still operate a smartphone touchscreen).

An ultrafine merino/rayon/nylon blend, this sweater wicks away moisture and keeps you cool and comfortable, even while layered underneath a jacket. The subtle color is perfect with navy, charcoal grey, or chocolate brown, and looks great casually or dressed up.

 This is one of the better denims we've come across, particularly for a guy who likes a slim fitting pant. The fabric is a 2% Lycra blend for stretch in slightly hefty weight (10+ oz), and the color is a chalky off-white that wears beautifully with fall colors or summer brights.

This material is so versatile...it's a terrific option for daily office wear, but also an excellent choice for cocktail or semi-formal attire - pair it with one of our dressy satin vests and a coordinating straight necktie for a black-tie look.  The fit is contemporary, without being extreme.

Ice blue cotton/linen 5-pocket pant - Z Zegna - $295

This pant is for the guy who wants to try out an interesting light color for spring, but doesn't want to go all-the-way white. It's a very pale blue with hints of grey, in a 5-pocket jean cut that functions as a chino. The cotton and linen blend is textural, but not so "wrinklesome" that it instantly turns into a mess.

We love great quality from unusual resources. PYA black label is a small knitwear concern from Patrick Assaraf, an big-time importer in the fashion industry who wanted to provide great quality at a relatively low price. The shirt shown with this outfit is from perennial BB favorite Z Zegna, who use a unique brushed cotton flannelina (like a flannel, but not heavy) and dart the shirt in the front, rather than the back, for a sharply tailored V shape.

KENT'S PICK - Z ZEGNA KNIT JACKET

Pieces like this little knit jacket are very useful in my wardrobe because I have to dress like a professional, but don't like to look too tailored every day. The silhouette says sport coat, but the fabric says hip sweater. I also love the raw edges, which add a really nice textural balance.
