Maison Martin Margiela - $1995

We get very jaded in the clothing industry...particularly when we talk about how $1995 is a 'great deal...' that said, I think for $1995, this is a LOT of coat. The leather details are interesting without being distracting, and the body of the coat is a very soft, unusual staple of cotton. It's weather resistant everywhere - even the leather - so it's quite practical for our climate, and unusually shapely for a piece in this category.  I would reach for this all the time when the weather turns.

 I was very pleased with the way this garment came out. It's a marvelous fabric; it's soft and stretchy but surprisingly dressy. I expect it would be a very good choice for travel, since it's so wrinkle resistant. I like the trimmer fit, too - not *tight* but trim, with a beautiful shape.
