INTRODUCING BB'S CURATED COLLECTION - SPRING 2014

THE HISTORY BUFF
Visit the past every time you don this gorgeous, vintage inspired dress from Transit ($345), and pair it with a jacket by Cividini ($1565), knowing that everything they make works with everything else they make. Go ahead, wear a piece you got ten years ago with one you got ten minutes ago, nobody’s looking. (Okay, everybody’s looking.)
This particular jacket features hand-pulled fabric and cool metallic touches. You’re going to wear it out. No seriously, not like out to dinner – out like it can’t be worn anymore because it’s worn out. It'll take a while, but it will happen, and that will be a sad, sad day*.
Underneath it all goes leggings ($105) and a tee by Majestic ($145), the most luxurious cotton you could ever put next to your skin. Made in France, and made so much better than they have to be. Majestic, like those mountains surrounding Seattle.

*We will help you cope with your loss.

INTRODUCING BB'S CURATED COLLECTION - SPRING 2014

THE INDIE STAR
Picture this: a humble line of clothing sets out in 2001 with nothing but raw talent and a crazy notion that glitz is not the story - the story is style. They called it “Transit” and soon everybody wanted a piece. “Transit” dominated awards season, and true to its independent nature it walked the red carpet in a driftwood-colored linen jacket ($695), ivory shirt ($325), zip cardigan ($675) and chocolate pant ($675). It took its Mom as a date.

In its acceptance speech Transit thanked his crew – linen, silk and cotton – for their hard work and for always being there, like for eons, since they are the real stars and all Transit did was give them new direction. Then things got kind of emotional and he vowed to never work with anyone else. You could hear the audience gasp.

It was awesome.

CAMERON'S PICK - TRANSIT LEATHER JACKET

Transit - $1065
This piece is so Transit - the very very soft leather is sewn to four knit panels - two on the sleeves and two on the sides - that provide excellent movement and stretch. The leather itself has literally been washed and shrunk to give it a vintage-y crinkled appearance and a luxurious texture.  It goes with a lot, too...everything from a jean or cotton skirt, to a slim pant.

NEW ARRIVALS - TRANSIT

Transit - $795
The new jackets from Transit have an unearthly lightness to them - like a second cousin to a t-shirt.  We've chosen especially unusual weaves, like this linen and cotton blend that mimics a light sweater.

Since part of the Transit appeal is a rough, casual expression, don't be afraid to store this jacket twisted into a ball - you'll keep the texture best that way!

NEW TRANSIT ARRIVALS

Transit's shipments for men and women are full of the usual Transit-isms (raw edges, textural fabrics, softly constructed jackets, unusual fiber blends) with some great new silhouettes for the Spring season. The ladies' collection is less structured than usual, featuring ethereal lightweight silk and linen fabrics in vivid prints and sweet pastel solids. The theme of softness is carried in the men's collection, in knit fabrics that allow for great stretch and comfort.

TRANSIT CHALK STRIPE DB SUIT

Outfit by Transit...Jacket - $595...Shirt - $325...Skirt - $325
This piece has so many of the things we look for in a garment...versatility, first and foremost, as well as quality construction and originality in design.  Wear the separates as you would denim, with casual pants and flats, or wear them together as an elegant suiting alternative.

BUTCH BLUM IN SEATTLE METROPOLITAN MAGAZINE

Jacket by Transit
Seattle Metropolitan's recent spread "O Pioneer" featured our clothing heavily, including outfits by Cividini, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Transit.  The scene was set by the "once and future heart of Seattle" - Pioneer Square, and all the wonderful historical buildings there.  Check out the rest of the set here!

LADIES ARRIVALS FROM TRANSIT

Chiffon blouse - $325
Chiffon-trim blazer - $625
Pinstripe viscose/ramie skirt - $325
One of our best resources for quirky, urban women's fashion - Transit once again brings us cool takes on classic ideas. One of the very best things about Transit; because their clothes are so well constructed and their style is evolutionary, rather than revolutionary, you can assemble a Transit wardrobe from one or two pieces a season and wear them forever.

TRANSIT SCARVES FOR MEN

Cotton/lycra scarf - Transit - $155
Transit scarves have always been a great way to add texture to your outfit, and these are no exception. The manufacturer even recommends wadding them up in a twisted ball when not being worn to create a permanent wrinkle.

TRANSIT SHOW EXTENDED

For those of you who missed out on the Artisan Days show this Tuesday and Wednesday, we will be keeping the samples from Transit until Sunday at 5pm. It's a chance to own a unique piece of Italian sportswear and be the only guy in Seattle who has it!

SEATTLE DANCES IN TRANSIT

Client and friend John Teutsch (seen here in one of our Transit t-shirts!) shared this video with us of a dance routine he performed recently, with dance partner Alison Cockrill. The event was called "Seattle Dances" and was a fundraiser for the Plymouth housing group, a non-profit entity devoted to providing housing options for the homeless. The event was an incredible success, raising over $480,000. (Mr. Teutsch's routine begins at the 1:30 mark).

KENT'S PICK - TRANSIT BOMBER

Jacket by Transit - $895
It's no secret around here that I *LOVE* Transit, and this piece is just another great example why. The fabric is a nylon/cotton/metal blend and has a permanent wrinkle. It's haphazardly absorbed the garment's dye, creating a modern texture with weather-resistant functionality.  Indestructible, eternally cool (without being trendy), and unique - a recipe for fashion excellence!

TRANSIT SWEATER COAT

Stretch knit herringbone blazer - Transit - $825
This jacket bucks a lot of trends for a cool, unique look that's somehow just right anyway. It's long - long enough to be outerwear on many - and has three buttons instead of the usual two. The fabric is a tightly knit herringbone stretch fabric that's perfect over a sweater, or dress it up with a collared shirt and tie, with a cool pair of slim wool pants.

TRANSIT WINDOW

Our new arrivals from Transit have a look that is evolutionary - not revolutionary...that is, the silhouettes and fabrics are recognizably Transit, but there is a real newness in this season's collection.  There is an interesting play of proportion in the longer and shorter jacket offerings - for both women and men- as well as unusual new fabrics including exquisitely soft Men's viscose shirts, and crunchy washed chiffon blouses in exquisite falling leaf tones for Women.

If you've never seen this collection before then it's time to come take a look! Come see why Transit is one of our favorite sportswear resources, and why a Transit garment is a terrific investment in your casual wardrobe.

NEW TRANSIT ARRIVALS

Wool/Alpaca blend crewneck - $425
The latest arrivals from Transit for men are here at Butch Blum! This incredible collection has an unusually artisanal feel for a sportswear line, and features rare fibers, interesting combinations of knit and woven fabrics, and styles that are modern but never trendy.

FROM THE LOOK BOOK - TRANSIT PAPER COTTON PANT

Pant by Transit - $325
This photo doesn't do this pant justice, but it's made of the most incredible fabric...a papery thin cotton stretch that will keep you lighter than linen during the warmer months. Roll up the bottoms and wear your favorite pair of slip-on shoes or sneakers for a soft, casual look.
